Lake Nighthorse swim beach is a unique and valuable amenity for the City of Durango, thoughtfully designed by Lee with sustainability in mind. The beach, nestled along the shores of the lake, offers magnificent views of the surrounding mountains. Special attention was given to erosion control, wave attenuation, and accessibility to ensure long-term environmental and community benefits. The sand, a defining feature of the beach, was sustainably sourced from the Animas River, highlighting the project’s commitment to using local, eco-friendly materials.
