Iris Park is part of a segment of the Animas River Trail greenway in Durango, designed as a replacement for an old, deteriorating asphalt trail. The new trail features a straightforward alignment that meets ASHTO guidelines and accessibility standards. In addition to the upgraded path, the project included the installation of lighting, site amenities, and new trees to enhance the user experience. Special attention was given to ensure the trail fits naturally within the park’s surroundings, creating a seamless connection to the river and nearby recreational spaces. The result is a durable, thoughtfully designed trail that will serve the community and promote outdoor activity for years to come.
